THE TERRE FANTASIER #2

Image
Mornin' and Merry Christmas, and as a special Christmas treat I have decided to finish the story or tour of The Terre Fantasier. "I'll take you to Mami. She knows a lot of portals. Maybe she can get you back home through one," said Stellae. "Yeah! Mami!" said Flumen happily. "Let's get out of the woods first. Peikkos might be roaming around. It's getting dark." "What are Peikkos?" I ask, unsure whether Flumen was completely making up its existence. "They are hairy, large-limbed monsters that won't enjoy being besties with us," said Stellae, shrugging, "Now let's go!" We make our way through the thickly brambled forests as Flumen told me about how he encountered a Peikko and when it tried to eat him, he strangled it with his own two hands. It was very hard to believe, especially with Stellae rolling her eyes half the time. "Let him live," she whispered to me as Flumen enacted his gruesome conv...

That One Little Girl

Image
How often do you see A girl so lively With hair charcoal black And skin smooth as silk How often do you admire Eyes like that With Galaxies and Nebulas Bursting within How often do you notice The little girl at the back Barefoot and smiling- No qualities does she lack? A peal of laughter which a sparrow envies A whisper of stories in her clear little voice A heart as wild as the seas Enjoying her simple joys  Her innocence ripples through her crowd. Her songs twinkle, but in the silence They are pleasantly loud And her silent steps echo from miles away This little girl At society's hands What would become of her On one wretched land? That one little girl That no one appreciates That one little girl Who lives in the back of my mind I see you wandering The endless forests in my dreams Singing in the silence For hours it seems. A trickster laughing- In the darkness of the night Her eyes shining Her hair flying, what a sight She is a little girl. But she is so much more I can hea...

The Terre Fantasier #1

As your awesome tour guide, I took you to places you have never been. For example, Terra Ciberia (Fruit Ville) and Kidtopia after the Rema Revolution. You couldn't pay for anyone else to take you to these places. Imagine going to a travel agency and having a conversation with the receptionist. "Excuse me, are there any tickets to Terra Ciberia?"  "What? Terra-what-now?" "Terra Ciberia, if you please." "Ma'am/Sir, I apologize, but there is no such place called Terra Ciberia." You scoff and reply, "Of course there is! My friend N gave me a tour there herself! We had ice cream that never melts and a pet dragon named Fluffy!" "Sir/Madam, I sincerely apologise, but we have no idea who N is. And if she took you to these nonexistent places, why not ask her for the tickets?" "I would if I knew where she is! Last time I checked, she was battling Mrs Cranberry in Fruitville Court!" "Well, we don't have ticket...

CAGED

Image
The world is so wide So vast... Time is so unpredictable. Sometimes slow, other times fast The waves ripple onto  sandy beaches The Banyans stand tall No matter their age This is the world I've seen it all Then why does it feel As though I'm caged There's lots more to see There's a world above the clouds Fiery comets, shooting stars Big bangs, oh so loud Sometimes I feel as though it all Is at my fingertips And after that I trip..... I hate it when people say Darling, you're too small Or they treat me as if I am mental Or not human at all It doesn't matter if I have the yearn To see life a flurry "No, you have to sit and learn Your only aim is to study" I have wishes  I have dreams But is all that so invisible That's what it seems I have a life of my own I have goals to make But here I am Feeling caged. The weight of the chains Pull me down Water fills my lungs And I drown I have not seen a thing. Only the grass beside my cage I sleep against the...

FRUIT VILLE PART-2

Image
HELLO! Sorry for leaving a cliffhanger the day before. I like picking up a wave of suspense before I finish stories. Before jumping back into the world of food-named characters, let's give you a small recap, in case you forgot the earlier story. And if you haven't read Part 1, what you doin'? Go read it right now folks! Our story occurred in Terra Ciberia, Fruit Ville, where everyone is named after fruits. The Bananas are well-known around the place and their children loved playing pranks on the cranky old weasel next door, Mrs Cranberry. But one day, while the two older kids Brian and Beatrice are away, Bexley gets caught by Mrs Cranberry, and she does something to him. Anyway, where was I? Right, Sara and Beatrice went to the Fruit Orchards.  "Been a while, hasn't it?" said Sara as they walked the dirt road towards the orchards, "Way too long in my opinion. Too bad Bex couldn't come. You reckon something bad has happened to him?" "I dunno...

FRUIT VILLE PART-1

Image
HI! I have taken you on a journey to Kidtopia, haven't I? So let's dive into the zany world of my friends at Terra Cibaria, where everyone has a name as quirky as today's lunch menu! Our adventure kicks off in the lively town of Fruit Ville! Picture this: Fruit Ville is packed with people named after fruits—yes, you heard that right! I’ve got a friend there, Beatrice Banana. Now, the Banana family isn’t just loud; they’re practically the town’s sound system! If sound waves could travel to Antarctica, the Banana family would have a special direct line! You can hear Mama Banana exclaiming, "Bexley, will you please stop running around like a circus monkey while I try to put your socks on!" And Papa Banana yelling frantically, "Brianna, honey! I lost my work tie again!" Or maybe- "Ma! Brian ate my cake again!" with Brian retorting, "Beatrice's piece was bigger than mine!" The oldest Banana kid is Brian, the cool, popular kid, with si...

A POEM

Image
PACT When my eyes set on you... I didn't know what to expect from somebody So blunt and rude. "Well, we're stuck together" I said. "And hopefully not forever..." Never expect to always reap what you sow 'Cause little did I know Cause a few days later from this moment This second exact We made something that can never be broken We made a pact. No matter the time... I will always be yours And you will always be mine... We will be together through every storm When the lightning strikes When the thunder roars. 'Cause only if there is rain Can I see your rainbow... The time we first met I was sceptical, nonetheless Wonderin' how I will make it through This mess. But there was something about your smile that made it a fact Hey... We made a pact 'Cause no matter the time I will always be yours And you will always- be mine You make me angry beyond measure And angering you is one of my many talents But you made me a bit stronger Not gonna lie You make...

KIDTOPIA

Image
You see, don't think adults are gonna rule for long. 'Cause that was definitely not the case for Entralo. Well, it's name was Entralo, once upon a time. But now its name is Kidtopia. Why? Because the children are in charge of course! In the centre of the Pacific Ocean once held a country called Entralo. Entralo, you see was a very boring place. It is not a tropical island paradise. It's an island full of very boring grownups who only approve of the colour scheme of dark grey to light grey. Everywhere was grey, the buildings, the playgrounds, the flowers, the people. You see, the children got ultimately tired of their sombre, expressionless lives. It was hard not to hate it. Today I am going to narrate the Rema Revolution, the story in which they chased out the adults and ruled over their kingdom. I heard this delightful story from my friend, Amanda who lives in Kidtopia and thoroughly enjoys it there. The day the kids heard of such an idea, the whole moving mass of chi...

A LITTLE SCIENTIST

Image
Hey there! So, I’ve gotta confess—science isn’t usually my jam. I mean, sure, I passed with decent grades, but let’s just say my true talents lie in more living, breathing subjects like Biology. But then, out of nowhere, sixth grade threw me a curveball: a problem-solving workshop that turned out to be an entire academy! Surprise!   As we dove deeper into this mysterious world of “problem-solving,” we started hatching ideas like eggs in a very confused chicken coop. One day, amid this academic chaos, a girl with pigtails and glasses (let’s call her “Mimi the Magnificent”) raised her hand and went, “Happiness.” I don't know why, but before I knew it, my hand shot up too. Next thing I know, I’m part of the “Happiness Project” — an All-Girl Research Team on a quest to find the secrets of true happiness! At the start, I was like a deer caught in headlights. Mimi was running the show, practically juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle. But then BAM! We got invited to pres...

ME? AN AUTHOR?

Image
WHY HELLO! * Many people think being an author and a writer is the same thing. But it isn't. From the moment I fell in love with pen and paper, I have been a writer. When I started this blog, I was a writer. The times I wrote short stories like Janette Mary Brown and The Cost Of A Complaint I was a writer. But on Wednesday evening, when I pressed a little blue button, I became an author.  That's right. I published a book. And I still can't believe it even though I said it a hundred times. I know, some people think publishing a book is as exciting as watching paint dry, but let me assure you, it's like winning the lottery(with better odds). I've always wanted to be an author, and now- I am one! It all started with a text my father sent me. It was a circular, saying my school was accepted to participate in the National Young Authors Fair competition. I joined immediately, I have been  waiting for this sorta opportunity to turn up. It was on this publishing platform c...

SPACE SAFARI

Image
HELLO I sincerely apologize for not posting last week. It was my school’s fault (and maybe a smidge of my laziness), but I promise I won’t skip my weekly posts again—at least not without an excuse that sounds better than “I was binge-watching cat videos.” It’s been two weeks since the Mid-term exams ended. On that glorious Thursday evening, I came home feeling like I just survived a zombie apocalypse—extremely happy yet thoroughly exhausted. I plopped down on the couch, picked up *Atomic Habits* by James Clear, and started reading with the kind of satisfaction usually reserved for finishing an entire pizza alone. It had been two weeks since I could read freely, thanks to those ghastly exams. I was halfway through wondering how ancient James Clear must be when my grandma—whom I affectionately call Mamama—interrupted my deep thoughts about habit-forming with a delightful, “You have this Space Safari or something on Monday!” I looked at her, baffled. Space Safari? Was I suddenly in a...

THE HUMMINGBIRDS

Image
GRAND GOODMORNING I liv e in a friendly neighbourhood of 47 houses, all with their story and memories. I live in the tenth one. I have only lived in it for four years so it's still quite new. I have a circle of friends there, we call ourselves the Hummingbirds. The name took a year of consideration, and that was the best we got, so no judgy looks allowed. We were all sitting at the park, moping around, racking our brains for a good name. I kept on spewing great candidates but the others kept turning them down. When Ann popped up with, "What about the Hummingbirds". "Nah, too out of place" was my response but after another ten minutes of failed ideas, I was like, "Why not?".  So the Hummingbirds came to life( It was still alive before but with the absence of a name) It has eight people, including me and my sister. My sister is known as the baby of the group as she is the youngest. I love making fun of her for it.  Al lives a bit farther away, so it'...

AL

Image
GREETINGS Al is my absolute bestie and no one can replace her. We have been Besties for about three years and I love her to bits. Al is quite different from me. I have long, curly hair, am short, love romance novels, and am a cheese fan. She has short silky hair, is tall, and hates romance and cheese. But we both love books about fantasy, mystery, adventure et cetera et cetera and chocolate(Especially chocolate). Al is hilarious and a down-to-earth sort of person. And she keeps me from doing ridiculous things. She is also a peacemaker and has more patience than I could muster in a lifetime. Al is also very very  good at chess. When a tournament comes up she will go on and on about the different moves and tactics and it would go something like this- " So there is this move I have been practising for the tournament-" ( Me listening attentively) "About rounding up on the king, using every one of my pieces. Quite genius really, My  father told me about it. But I doubt it wi...

MISS GREEN

Image
NI HAO! Long time no see. School has kept me busy recently. I actually managed to cook up a story. About a girl who's finding it a bit hard to study because of her ADHD. I name it-                                                              MISS GREEN "But I don't want to go" wailed Sally Jonath. Sally was a girl one wouldn't find very interesting. She has a grumpy mood, dull brown eyes and a nasty temper. She flipped her long black hair and said, "I won't have it, I am not moving!" Her mother rolled her eyes." You don't have a choice, Sally. Your father has found a well-paying job in Chicago. You'll find plenty of friends there-" "NOO" Sally yelled. B ut soon everything from their house was packed and put in the trunk. Sally looked out of the window of their car, teary-eyed. ' My awful awful life" she grumbled. Chicago was big...

MY OBSESSION WITH EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING FURRY

Image
HOWDY! This title doesn't mean I am in love with hair-covered worms or insects( though some may argue I am a fake nature lover because of this), I love dogs, cats, mongooses( even ones that poop on school hallways), rabbits, squirrels and ferrets( Draco Malfoy included). Their furry faces and big eyes make me want to squeeze the life out of them. When people think of a teen animal lover, they think they love all dogs. But let me clarify: I do NOT love big scary labradors chasing me when my only aim is to make it to my friend's place in one piece. Trust me I have first-hand experience. However, I like  labs when they sit obediently with their tongue out, letting me pet them without chopping my hand off. I had a dog once. It is a sad story really.  He was a beagle, Milo, the most beautiful, cutest little one in the world. But one day he lost his playfulness and happy eyes. He didn't want to run or play. He just lay down looking sad. And one day, we found out he had dengue....

LOST IN THE LOUVRE

Image
GOOD MORNIN' LADIES AND GENTLEMEN  As you might have gathered from my earlier posts, I am a bit clumsy. But nothing proves my statement more than the time I got lost in the large turning passageways of the Louvre Museum . I just graduated. First Grade. When my parents announced that we were going on tour! To Europe! And I was like, "Yeah, cool". Only now, after the pandemic, with me sitting here, with my stuffed koala Charlie beside me, do I realize how cool that is. And before I could blink I was getting on a plane with a bunch of my parents' friends heading off to Germany. We went to Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Switzerland, yada yada. The only place my family was heading to alone, was France. And that was because my cousins lived in Paris. I had tons of fun there, and I absolutely adored my aunt and cousins(they had the biggest stash of candy I have ever seen!). We went to the Eiffel Tower and finally what y'all have been waiting for, The Louvre Museum. If any of ...

MY HOBBIES

Image
HOLA! I enjoy doing a lot of things. This blog is one of them, reading blogs is another. As far as I can remember, everyone has told me that I was an excellent Malayali singer when I was younger. And when I mean young, I mean about two years old. Apparently, I could memorise songs by hearing them once and I had the best voice of anyone they heard. That sounds weird to me because I have the memory of a goldfish. And whenever I record myself singing I feel as if I am listening to a broken radio. And trust me I have heard good singers before and I  am not one of them. The only time I like the sound of my voice is in the shower. So I guess people were making a big deal out of nothing. Something I really like doing is writing. I write all the time, about everything. I used to write as a toddler as well, but my inner critic cringes whenever I read any of my old stories. I write a lot too. A few short stories, novels and poetry peppered here and there. I started this blog because I love t...
