CAGED
The world is so wide
So vast...
Time is so unpredictable.
Sometimes slow, other times fast
The waves ripple onto
sandy beaches
The Banyans stand tall
No matter their age
This is the world
I've seen it all
Then why does it feel
As though I'm caged
There's lots more to see
There's a world above the clouds
Fiery comets, shooting stars
Big bangs, oh so loud
Sometimes I feel as though it all
Is at my fingertips
And after that
I trip.....
I hate it when people say
Darling, you're too small
Or they treat me as if I am mental
Or not human at all
It doesn't matter if I have the yearn
To see life a flurry
"No, you have to sit and learn
Your only aim is to study"
I have wishes
I have dreams
But is all that so invisible
That's what it seems
I have a life of my own
I have goals to make
But here I am
Feeling caged.
The weight of the chains
Pull me down
Water fills my lungs
And I drown
I have not seen a thing.
Only the grass beside my cage
I sleep against the cold metal
Trying to bury all my rage
I want to see the seagulls fly
I want to feel the breeze so high
I want to have the freedom
I want to be in charge of my own Kingdom
I want to breathe in the mountain air
I want to be in the tightest storm
I want to be in a golden chair
I want to see it all
But yet all I feel
Is the metal of my cage
This is my real
The iron age
I want to feel the liberty
of doing anything I want
I want to feel the majesty
I want to hear my song
But here I stay
In utter silence
Without a word to say
In the slightest
Forever I may not see the snow
Or the hurricanes or the hail
The only cold I'll ever feel
Is the metal of my tiny jail
Beautiful
ReplyDeleteVery nicely relected
ReplyDeleteAll feel that the bird caged is always secure. Some of us have the same plight. That that you have brought the soul of the bird outside the metal cage. Good work dear..
ReplyDeleteDang this was deep, I almost cried
ReplyDeleteNice. Like they say, if you wish to get out of the prison then first thing you must do is to realise you are in prison. If you think you are free, you can't escape. You are already there. Now let's plan the escape ;-)
ReplyDeleteGood work, gal!
