ME? AN AUTHOR?

 WHY HELLO!

Many people think being an author and a writer is the same thing. But it isn't. From the moment I fell in love with pen and paper, I have been a writer. When I started this blog, I was a writer. The times I wrote short stories like Janette Mary Brown and The Cost Of A Complaint I was a writer. But on Wednesday evening, when I pressed a little blue button, I became an author.

That's right. I published a book. And I still can't believe it even though I said it a hundred times. I know, some people think publishing a book is as exciting as watching paint dry, but let me assure you, it's like winning the lottery(with better odds). I've always wanted to be an author, and now- I am one! It all started with a text my father sent me. It was a circular, saying my school was accepted to participate in the National Young Authors Fair competition. I joined immediately, I have been waiting for this sorta opportunity to turn up. It was on this publishing platform called BriBooks, an AI software meant for children to publish their work. I started typing when an email was sent to me, the deadline was on the 30th. Cue dramatic gasp. That wasn't enough time to cook up a story from scratch! I needed a story I already made, something that isn't my best but isn't my worst either. I wanted to save the best for bigger publishing companies. I flicked through my short stories in a panic when I saw the perfect candidate. The Little Tailor Girl. I got the idea when I went to a boutique to get a few of my shirts stitched. But the story ended up drastically different to the title so I needed to change that. I wrote down a few titles, most of them stupid until I got the perfect one- A Thread, A Needle And A Heart.

Yes, it's a love story, stop rolling your eyes. I am proud of it. So I wrote and wrote and wrote. Until on the 29th of October, when I finally finished writing and pressed PUBLISH. And a day ahead of time! Geez, I think I'm actually turning a bit punctual. Most people get adrenaline when they are running away from bad guys, or solving a mystery, or killing it on a TV show. But I get adrenaline when the characters are on a roll. When their emotions feel deep and their tears and laughter feels real. That ladies and gentlemen, is adrenaline. And when I pressed that Publish button, I got my biggest rush of adrenaline yet. Even better when I was on a sugar rush on eating 17 ice cream cones at my uncle's wedding reception!

That was when I noticed the price, Rs399 for a 37-page book? Do they think money grows on trees? And Rs 140 for delivery! That summed up to - 539 RUPEES! My father ordered 3 copies and my mother ordered one. But all sorrows aside, I AM AN AUTHOR PEOPLE!!!!!!

You know, this blog really helped me gain my self-confidence. Thanks a bunch, chaps! I can't wait to publish a few more of my little stories. A bit longer than 37 pages maybe. My friend Mimi is participating too, I haven't read her book yet, but I have read her writing. And it is pure amazing. She accidentally fell down the stairs last week and tore a ligament but she assured us she's fine(Though Panda, who is really protective of Mimi, does not believe it and is always pestering her with calls.... oh Panda). 'Til the next story-

FAREWELL

N.M SIRIUS... AN AUTHOR!
