MY HOBBIES
HOLA!
I enjoy doing a lot of things. This blog is one of them, reading blogs is another. As far as I can remember, everyone has told me that I was an excellent Malayali singer when I was younger. And when I mean young, I mean about two years old. Apparently, I could memorise songs by hearing them once and I had the best voice of anyone they heard. That sounds weird to me because I have the memory of a goldfish. And whenever I record myself singing I feel as if I am listening to a broken radio. And trust me I have heard good singers before and I am not one of them. The only time I like the sound of my voice is in the shower. So I guess people were making a big deal out of nothing.
Something I really like doing is writing. I write all the time, about everything. I used to write as a toddler as well, but my inner critic cringes whenever I read any of my old stories. I write a lot too. A few short stories, novels and poetry peppered here and there. I started this blog because I love to write. I like reading as well. I have a huge collection of books from authors who are poles apart. I have William Shakespeare sitting next to Jacqueline Wilson. Enid Blyton is rubbing elbows with Jeff Kenney. As you can see I am not the most organised of the lot, but I try. I explored a few blogs after starting my own, and suddenly I felt a lot smaller. Some blogs looked a lot more like actual World Wide Web websites! It took another read of Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare to calm me down. I figured I liked my website just the simple way it is.
As far as I know, I am not the sportiest person on the block, but there are a few sports I have a soft spot for. I started swimming when I was a kid. When I moved to the USA at 2 years old I joined a swimming class. It had a huge pool which I loved flapping around in. I was far too young and clumsy then to learn actual freestyle. I returned to India at four. When I was five, I joined another class. At the Periyar River. There they trained me and my three-year-old sis Ru to cross the river. My father joined( it was for all ages) and crossed the place. With me cheering the loudest at the shore. Soon I had to start school and swimming was put aside till after the pandemic. I learned once again at eleven but chickened out at the idea of crossing the river. But I still love swimming and it remains a part of me.
Badminton is a sport I learned as an extracurricular in fifth grade. I loved playing but I had to put it away because of my weak health, but two years later I started coaching again. And I even bagged the first prize in my community games! I am still proud.
But if you have met any of my friends my other hobby is talking. Actually, around strangers, I am as quiet as a mouse surrounded by cats. But ask my bestie, Al and she will say I don't know how to keep my mouth shut. I'll talk about anything and everything under the sun, or above it, or beside it, or maybe even inside it. And if there is no one to talk to I talk to myself. Don't listen to the idiots who say it is the first sign of madness. Everyone talks to themselves once in a while. But if I can't do that, as I have already mentioned before, I write!
So, yeah. Those are my hobbies just to name a few. Talk about your hobbies or talents in the comments and check out my other posts. 'Til the next story
